Darrien Hunt was just a young nerdy cosplayer that liked anime and was still seen as a dangerous threat. like no matter how far away from a “thug” you behave if you are black you are a target you are being watched and you are not safe in America
You don’t have to love animals to be vegan. Hell, you don’t even have to like them. It isn’t a question of love or compassion; it is a matter of basic decency.
But you have to be vegan to love animals? I’ve heard THAT too many…
ALSO the recent popularity in tofu is leading South American countries to clear cut rainforests to make way for soy farms… That soy going straight into the tofu that a ton of vegans eat. So while you might be saving a few cows that were born for slaughter, but in the long run you are helping the destruction of thousands of species. Being vegan doesn’t make you responsible. Do your research on what you eat and be a responsible vegan.
…Actually, 98% of all soy goes to farmed animals as feed, so if you’re really worried about soy, you should know that your diet requires much more of it than ours does. It isn’t like soy or tofu is a requirement of the vegan diet regardless, and we certainly aren’t the only ones consuming it. You also might like to know, that the FAO found that the meat industry is the number one cause of deforestation globally, far outstripping production of soy. A full 2/3 of the planets arable land surface is now used for meat production. You want to talk about South America? In Brazil, 62% of formerly forested land was cleared for grazing cattle for beef alone, compare that with the 5% cleared for ALL other major vegetables, soy being a tiny proportion of that. Stop using soy as an excuse to continue to consume a product that is literally killing the planet. Being vegan doesn’t make you responsible, but being a meat-eater pretty much means you definitely aren’t.
It seems like you need to do some of that research you were talking about.
